Felicity, civility, etc.
In 2009, I have subconciously taken a keen interest in vocabulary. Sadly, I can hear myself constantly overusing words like “cool,” “weird,” or “that’s great!” What do these words really mean? Many of my go-to words seem to have lost their luster. Maybe they were never that meaningful in the first place. Or maybe I just resort to a small set of descriptive words because its easier than stretching my mind to soak in a comprehensive vocabulary.
In any case, I am determined to expand my vocabulary. My first exercise includes taking note of new words while reading a novel. The back flap of a book is especially useful for this exercise. At this time, it’s Pride and Prejudice. What a treasure of words lost in antiquity! The two that I’ve taken a liking to the most are felicity and civility. Here’s a small tribute to these beautiful words:
